Cordelia Chase (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel)
From her humble beginnings as an inane Sunnydale High Cheerleader, to a warrior fighting against evil with the power to see the future, Cordelia Chase was certainly a shining example of a Buffyverse character who came far from where they started.
Vain, Shallow and Rich, Cordelia Chase made a bang as the sterotypical popular high school girl. Often at ends with Buffy Summers, Willow Rosenberg, and Xander Harris, and although she was involved to a certain degree, it wasn't until the Second Season when she became a fully fledged member of the Scoobies. Later, she began a relationship with Xander, only to be betrayed and almost killed after discovering Xander kissing Willow. Fueled with anger and hate, Cordelia swore off Buffy and her crew, only to return in the third series finale. Before leaving Sunnydale after her High School Graduation, and arriving in LA.
After meeting up with Angel in LA, she decides to start a private detective firm named "Angel Investigations" along with Doyle and Wesley. Shortly before Doyle's sudden death, he passes on his visions to Cordelia via a kiss. From that moment on, Cordelia was Angel's connection to the Powers that be, and was no longer the Cordelia Chase from Sunnydale. As time went on, Cordelia found the visions emotionally and extremely psychically unbearable. It was later revealed in Season 3, when a vision threw Cordelia into a coma, that as a human, Cordelia was not strong enough to harbor her visions, and it was literally killing her. She made an incredible sacrifice and allowed herself to become part demon, to be strong enough to handle them, also finding a whole variety of new powers very handy.
After finding a mutual love in Angel, it seemed as if everything that could get in the way of the two being happy, did. In the Season 3 finale, while on her way to meet up with Angel and share her feelings with him, Cordelia was summoned to a higher plane and became a divine being. She quickly returned though, and it was revealed that she had been possessed by a god "Jasmine" who used Cordelia's body to hitch a ride back, to rule the world. While possessed, Cordelia/Jasmine slept with Connor, getting pregnant and giving birth to itself (You'd really have to watch to understand.) Cordelia was thrown into a coma, with little to no chance of ever recovering.
Cordelia returned one last time in the 100th episode of Angel, to re-enforce Angel's original mission statement. After Cordy and Angel saved the day, she informed him that he will win in the end, and she was sad she won't be around to see it. Angel became visibly upset, as did she, she let him know that the powers owed her one, and she didn't waste it, she got her guy back on track. As she turned to leave, she turned and she and Angel shared one last kiss, where she passed her visions onto him. As the phone started ringing, Cordelia told Angel to answer it, and delivered her last lines "Oh, and, You're Welcome." Angel picked up the phone and was informed Cordelia had died, finally understanding what she was saying, and realizing she was gone, he replied "Thank You."
